Denise,
Happy baby shower day!!! You are about to experience the single most precious event in your life. Baby Evelyn is incredibly lucky to be part of a loving family. I can only imagine what you're looking forward to doing with her...including some fabulous trips to work to see her mom perform true miracles with the work of her gifted hands. We have been friends for so long, have made MILLIONS of memories (singing Mariah careys Christmas album comes to mind this time of year), and still with times such as these distance leaves a void :(
I love you and I know these times are derived by people who truly know what an amazing mommy you are going to be.
Keep your eyes peeled in the mail for a gift from landon!! He picked it out from etsy with you and Evelyn in mind.
I miss you and enjoy every minute of these last weeks before Evelyn makes her appearance! I'm sure you've heard that "kids change everything," it's in the best way possible! The best parts of you and Dave!
Ok, enough rambling!
Love you
Colleen (todd and landon too)

Denise,
I can’t believe another of “my girls” is becoming a mommy. We have been through a lot together , the good and bad, happy and sad. You know I love you like a daughter and will always be here for you and Miss Evelyn. I hope she has your twinkly eyes and your beautiful smile, your grace and your kindness. She can’t help but have a sense of humor with you for a mommy. I can’t wait to hold her and kiss her and when she’s older tell her of all the adventures her mom has had. Well maybe not all! I wish you much joy and happiness, a safe and easy labor, a quick recovery and long sleep filled nights, um I’m guessing the last one might not happen for awhile but I’ll keep wishing for you.
Enjoy your gifts, which I’m not showing….I look forward to the phone that tells of Evelyn’s arrival. I love you so much, rest , relax and get ready for the trip of a lifetime, your precious baby girl!

Denise (my Dot),
It seems like just yesterday you were reading me large animal medecine notes while I spoon fed myself a large frosted sheet cake. I remember your encouraging words as I came off my sugar high and slipped into a depression about how I couldn't remember what to treat a cows udder with and when. I bring this up here because it is one of many reasons why I know you will make an amazing mother. Not only can you deal with the wimpering and whining, but you are smart. You are selfless. You are humorous. You are kind.
Little Evelyn is a lucky girl to find herself in a home with you and Dave. The two of you have been through a lot to get to meet her and I am so proud of you. I have learned so much from you (and your friends) journeys to being parents and I can't wait to hear the next chapter. I can't wait to see your little girl! And I can't wait to start teaching her how to ride a horsie :)
Enjoy this weekend with your girls and know that I am thinking of you! Enjoy these last few weeks and make Davey take you on some dates while you can! Good luck with the labor (and yes I want to hear every detail, duh)!
Love your Dot,
Shana

Denise,
The idea of not showering you with special little somethings for your little one, at first made me sad, but then Shana suggested this alternative and I think it is even better than a shower, because we are able to share how special you and your new bundle of joy are to us.
It seems like just yesterday that we were playing Indiana Jones in your backyard with our jump ropes as whips and staying up late watching scary movies (we both knew the children of the corn marathon was a bad idea, yet neither of us were able to stop it from happening and I loved your odd obsession with the old school version of Planet of the Apes….it for some reason was the go-to late night movie!) I can still shut my eyes and remember the sweet smell or your basement and the comforting cedar smell of the sleeping bags. The memories that we made together are some of my dearest. I am blessed to have you for my friend and thank you for always being there thru thick or thin. It is my greatest hope that our daughters find friends as special as you are to me.
As far as advice goes, I am always happy to listen or lend you a suggestion, but the only advice that I can give that I am sure is universally accepted is to treasure every moment! You will be a fantastic mom. I can’t wait to see her! As far as that goes…I will tell you a secret here…due to a change in plans, I will be in the states for your due date and hope that you will accept a visit from me as soon as possible!
Love you to the moon and back!
Elizabeth
As far as gifts go… I loved my beaba cook and still use it to this day…I hope you get as much use out of it as I did.

Denise, Denise!
I am so blessed and honored to have you in my life. You are an amazing friend because you are loving and caring, kind and thoughtful, fun and funny, ridiculous and silly, selfless and giving, compassionate and strong, dedicated and loyal, and beautiful inside and out. All of these qualities not only make you a wonderful friend, but translate into the best mom a baby could ask for. Evelyn is one of the luckiest little girls I know, and I haven’t even met her yet. A gift like her took a few bumpy roads to get to, but she is truly worth the wait. I can not wait to hold mini-Densie in my arms and tell her stories of when her mommy and I first became friends over a bottle of cheap vodka at a Frat party ;o) Okay, that story will wait many, many years. But, I will whisper in her ear all the wonderful things she has to look forward to having you as her mom!!
If I may, I would like to give you two small pieces of advice my new mommy-friend. That is to always listen to your instincts. She is your little girl and you will always know what is best for her. And you can never cuddle enough. Cuddle, cuddle, cuddle, and then cuddle some more. When you are done with those cuddles, find Daddy Kurtz and have a family cuddle fest. In the middle of the night when you are up for the 10th time, cuddle and enjoy holding her in your arms because they grow so fast. Then, each moment you are fully apart of, taking it all in, you will have no regrets.
I love you!!

Denise,
She is one of the kindest, funniest girl I know who is going to make an unbelieveable mommy. When I think back to our high school days, I have nothing but fond memories of us crazy kids. From the days of skipping school to go apple picking to that huge bender at your house that I think we had to call the cops on. We have always managed to laugh until it hurts. I wish we were closer in distance so that I could watch Baby Kurtz grow into the most beautiful girl and teach her some of the finest dance moves. Lol! Thank God they invented technology to see each other when miles apart. Congratulations on your baby girl...
Love you lots,
Kim Kelliher
